Analítica de sesiones de comercio electrónico para decisiones de conversión: desempeño predictivo, calibración y dependencia de métricas próximas al resultado

La predicción de compra en comercio electrónico puede mostrar métricas elevadas sin garantizar utilidad en el momento de decisión. Este estudio evaluó cuánto cambia el desempeño al incorporar grupos de variables disponibles en distintas fases de una sesión, con énfasis en PageValues, una métrica próxima al resultado. Se analizaron 12.330 sesiones anónimas del conjunto Online Shoppers Purchasing Intention, con 1.908 conversiones (15,47 %). Se compararon regresión logística penalizada y árboles potenciados mediante validación cruzada estratificada de cinco pliegues repetida tres veces. Los predictores se organizaron en cuatro paneles acumulativos: contexto, navegación, salida y completo con PageValues. Con el panel de salida, la regresión logística obtuvo ROC AUC de 0,751 y precisión promedio de 0,325; con PageValues alcanzó 0,896 y 0,642. En árboles potenciados, ROC AUC aumentó de 0,788 a 0,936 y la precisión promedio de 0,374 a 0,757. En el umbral 0,20, el panel completo redujo las sesiones accionables de 30,9 % a 19,4 % y elevó el valor predictivo positivo de 29,7 % a 55,4 %. El incremento desproporcionado demuestra dependencia de una variable cuya disponibilidad temporal no puede confirmarse. El uso responsable exige registrar cuándo se calcula cada métrica, validar temporalmente el modelo, definir costos y probar las intervenciones antes de atribuir mejoras de conversión.
